Ingram leads delegation to Health Minister

The Member for Gippsland East led a delegation of local community members to meet with the Health Minister, Bronwyn Pike, concerning financial issues which have forced cuts at Bairnsdale Regional Health Service.

"Representatives from the community, together with the Practical Men of the Village, met formally with the Minister in Warragul on Monday to pass on the concerns.

"The group expressed the desire of East Gippslanders to ensure the retention of the specialist and general surgeons in our local hospital," Mr Ingram said.

"The meeting was both positive and informative and the minister has committed to providing a formal written response to the issues raised."

Mr Ingram said it was essential that the government recognised the challenges of rural heath providers in the State Budget, which is to be presented to the Parliament next week.
