Information session to help business ideas grow to reality A free information sessions designed for businesses who want to convert a good business idea into reality is being held at the Moe Town Hall on Friday 16 May from 10am to 1pm. By Latrobe City - 9th May 2003 - Back to News The information session titled ‘Inspiring Innovation’, features a number of speakers from local business, government and local agencies.
Latrobe City’s Chief Executive Officer and chairperson of the Latrobe Valley Ministerial Taskforce Marketing Advisory Panel, Richard Hancock, said the information session is designed to give local businesses the opportunity to learn more about the support available to help them grow their good ideas.
Speakers at the information session are Stuart Hamilton, CEO Innovation Economy Advisory Board; Alex Lamond, CEO Triton Foundation; John Jenkins, Regional Manager, Victoria/Tasmania IP Australia; Dr Lindsay Wakefield, MD Safetech; Dr Roger Edwards, CEO ASIRC; and Ms Marlene Battista, Regional Director – Gippsland, AusIndustry.
"Latrobe’s business people are renowned for a wealth of good ideas that are generated, but sometimes these ideas, good as they are, flounder because of a lack of experience, knowledge, or some practical assistance from outside. In many cases those good ideas can be turned into reality by simply knowing who to turn to for some assistance," Mr Hancock said
"The information session Latrobe City is hosting, comes with considerable support from some of the major players in innovation locally and nationally, and these speakers will be able to draw on a wealth of experience that they can pass on to those attending," Mr Hancock said.
"We are really excited at the range and calibre of speakers coming to Inspiring Innovation. This is a golden opportunity for local business. There will also be networking opportunities for local business people who can talk to State and local government representatives about their ideas and get practicable advice on ways to get support," Mr Hancock added.
‘Inspiring Innovation’ is a Latrobe Innovation Festival event. Further information is available from Chris Buckingham at Latrobe City Council, telephone 1300 367 700.
