By Department of Sustainability and Environment - 21st November 2007 - Back to News

DSE and Parks Victoria firefighters are attending these fires with three slip-on units (specialised four wheel drive firefighting vehicles) and two dozers.

Rappel crews are still working hard to contain the fires at North Buldah and Black Jack, in the Coopracambra National Park, close to the New South Wales border. These fires have not increased in size.

At Mealing Hill, five kilometres west of Wanagarabelle a crew of seven has handtrailed around the fire, which is close to containment.

The Turntables fire, 12 kilometres north-west of Cann River also has six personnel working on it with rakehoes and remains small.

All other fires in Gippsland are now contained or under control, with crews blacking out and patrolling ahead of tomorrow’s expected high temperatures.
