Governor happily surprised with the Latrobe ValleyGovernor of Victoria comes to visit and leaves very impressed By Emma Kae - 23rd May 2000 - Back to News Sir James Gobbo, Governor of Victoria recently visited the Latrobe Valley for a tour of the region.
Places he visited included Moe, Morwell and Traralgon and his tour incorporated local facilities such as:
- Latrobe Regional Art Gallery
- Glendonald Estate
- Victory Park
-Safetech
The Governor had many uplifting comments about the Latrobe Valley.
"This area has a lot going for it, people here know it, but a lot of people in Melbourne should know it," he said. "I was impressed". (Source, Latrobe Valley Express).
Tony Hanning, Latrobe City mayor, was extremely pleased with the way the tour had gone.
"There was this feeling of goodwill and genuine elation at some of the things that have been happening here," he noted. (Source, Latrobe Valley Express).
The success of the Governor's visit proves the Latrobe Valley has a lot more than what people may expect.
