Weekly Storytime Pilot Study At Bairnsdale Library

East Gippsland Shire Library is conducting a pilot study to measure the response rate to weekly Storytimes at the Bairnsdale branch.

By East Gippsland Shire Council - 20th September 2004 - Back to News

The purpose is to determine whether an increase in the number of Storytime sessions per week would be a popular initiative.

Held every Tuesday at 11.00 am, the one-hour sessions encourage a love of books and reading to young children from 4 months to 5 years of age.

Youth and Children’s Services Officer Kylie Pinkerton says Storytimes are designed to enhance the process of learning to read and write successfully.

"We need to establish just how successful the Storytime program is, how it can be improved and how we can make it appeal to more mums, dads and their children," Ms Pinkerton said.

Monthly Storytimes are held at Lakes Entrance, Orbost and Paynesville Libraries and occasionally on the Mobile Library.
