The launch will include a major cheque presentation by Federation Health Chairman, David Blythman announcement of new initiatives for 2004 by Chris Buckingham Chairperson of the Federation Health Gippsland Business Awards and a talk by Juli Halton of Gippsland Business Support on how being chosen as winner of Gippsland Business of the Year in 2003 has positively affected her business.

Federation Health’s David Blythman will be presenting a cheque for $18,700 as a part of a three year $50,000 sponsorship agreement. Federation Health has been integral to the success of the awards over the past four years as the major sponsor.

Chris Buckingham observed: ‘There is a strong synergy between Federation Health and the Awards. Both the Awards and Federation Health are Gippsland based organisations that have enjoyed considerable growth in recent times. The Awards are about celebrating success within the Gippsland business community and Federation Health is a great example of this success.’

The 2003 Awards enjoyed an unprecedented level of interest from the business community. There was a very strong field of nominations and the presentation night was significantly oversubscribed.

Mr Blythman said: The Federation Health Gippsland Business Awards have grown in stature over the last eight years to become the premier event on the Gippsland business calendar. Federation Health can see the true value of the awards to the Gippsland Community and have entered into an agreement that reflects Federation Health’s commitment to developing positive partnerships within our home market.

Chris Buckingham said: The awards have gone from strength to strength. It is the culmination of a lot of hard work by the committee over a number of years and excellent support from our sponsors. We recognise that we have to continue to work to build and maintain our growth.’

There are a number of initiatives in the pipeline for 2004 including a pre Awards breakfast for finalists and sponsors. The breakfast will be sponsored by AusIndustry and will give stakeholders an opportunity to meet before the big night. It is anticipated that the breakfast will have a similar feel to the pre Grand Final breakfast held last week.
