Wulgulmerang gains $88,000 for new community facility

The Wulgulmerang community received welcome news this week, with a funding commitment for the upgrade and redevelopment of facilities at the Wulgulmerang Recreation Reserve.

The Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, informed the recreation reserve committee this week that $88,000 will be made available through the Victorian Community Support Grants.

"The Wulgulmerang committee has faced severe hardships over past years, with drought and wildfires," Mr Ingram said.

"The recreation reserve is point of focus for the local community, and following the fires there is little community infrastructure left for this district and its residents.

I believe that the proposed new multipurpose building has been well planned and will result in a sustainable facility that will serve the community for years to come," Mr Ingram said.

Also successful in this round of funding was Lakes Entrance Neighbourhood House, which will receive $30,000 towards a re-location feasibility study.

"The study will take into consideration the current facilities and location and address the future community needs and appropriate location.

"Neighbourhood Houses play a vital role in the community and Lakes Entrance is a worthy prime example," Mr Ingram concluded.
