Latrobe City Council is backing volunteers across the municipality by funding 138 projects through its Community Grants and Community Sponsorship programs.

Council approved 136 applications through Round One of the Community Grants Program to the tune of $489,073 and two applications through its Community Sponsorship Program to the value of $30,000.

The funding will assist community groups to deliver projects or to buy much needed equipment.

The successful projects are spread across towns and districts throughout Latrobe City, from a fence at the Haunted Hills bike park near Moe to the Churchill and District Community Associations picnic setting; from an electrical upgrade of the Toongabbie and District Mens Shed to a new scoreboard for the Traralgon Imperials Cricket Club.

"Council is honoured to be able to support our community groups in this way. Through their work and dedication, these volunteers are making Latrobe City a richer community by offering outlets for people to play sport, pursue hobbies and contribute to their local community," Latrobe City Council Chief Executive Officer Steven Piasente said.

"This was a very competitive process with more than $830,000 applied for through various Grant and Sponsorship Programs."

All applicants for Round One of the Community Grant and Sponsorship programs were notified.

Unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to contact Councils Grants Officer, on 5128 5656 or via email to discuss their application.

Round Two of the Grant and Sponsorship Program are now open for those who may have missed out on a funding opportunity in Round One. Applications close at 4pm, 28 February, 2021.

Applications are invited for the following categories: Minor Capital Works, Minor Equipment, ommunity Wellbeing, Community Events Minor, Community Events Significant and Community Sponsorship Major.
