Special Charge Scheme Will Fund Goongerah Bridge

East Gippsland Shire Council is to declare a special charge scheme to provide a permanent vehicle crossing over the Brodribb River at Goongerah.

By East Gippsland Shire Council - 9th February 2007 - Back to News

Councillors voted this week to declare the special charge at the Ordinary Council Meeting to be held on 3 April 2007 to defray expenses incurred by building the crossing that will provide access to three private properties.

Two of the properties were party to a Section 173 Agreement to maintain a bridge that had become unsafe and was recently removed while the third relies on the proposed bridge for access.

Council will initially meet the full $90,000 construction cost of the bridge that will be repaid by quarterly payment from the three benefiting properties over a 20-year period.
