Victorian Governor Touring East Gippsland Shire

John Landy, AC, MBE, Governor of Victoria and Mrs Lynne Landy will be visiting the East Gippsland Shire between Wednesday, 14 April and Friday, 16 April.

The three-day tour will include visits to a number of sites throughout many communities in the Shire.

"We are honored to be hosting the Governor and Mrs Landy," said Deputy Mayor, Cr Jane Rowe.

"The tour will be starting in Mallacoota and covering Cann River, Orbost, Buchan and Omeo on the Wednesday. Thursday will be spent mainly in Lakes Entrance and Bairnsdale, while Friday the Governor and Mrs Landy will visit more community sites throughout Bairnsdale, concluding with a Civic Reception at the Shire’s Corporate Centre.

"We are delighted the Governor has chosen to visit a wide cross section of the community, from local school groups and indigenous co-operatives to leading businesses and some of the region’s major tourist attractions.

"We are sure the Governor and Mrs Landy will enjoy their visit to East Gippsland. Council would like to express its thanks to the many businesses and organisations who have helped plan the event," Cr Rowe said.

Among the sites the Governor and Mrs Landy will visit are the Mallacoota Bunker Museum, Snowy River Seeds, Buchan Caves, Lakes Entrance Fisherman’s Co‑operative, Patties Foods, East Gippsland Art Gallery, Lakes Entrance Ocean Rescue and the East Gippsland Specialist School.
