A fleet of nine purpose-built Cleanaway trucks is about to clean up on the streets of Latrobe City.

By Latrobe City - 13th July 2012 - Back to News

The new seven year contract has been awarded to Cleanaway for the waste, recycling and greenwaste collection services.

Cleanaway General Manager for Victoria, Duncan Reid, said the company was excited to be partnering with Latrobe City Council to deliver a first-class waste and recycling collection service to the 75,000 residents.

"Latrobe City Council will also be only the second contract in Victoria to utilise the next generation in waste collection vehicles - the new low entry Dennis Eagle.

"Supplied by the Commercial Vehicle division of the Transpacific Industries Group, the Dennis Eagle features superior visibility to improve safety not only for our drivers, but also importantly for the local residents we serve," he said.

Latrobe City Mayor, Cr Ed Vermeulen, said the arrival of the brightly coloured convoy of Cleanaway trucks signalled a new era in waste collection for local residents and businesses.

"Not only are the new trucks a safer design for the drivers, but they carry colourful waste education messages that are sure to attract attention," he said.

Thirteen employees from the local area will work on the new contract, which will be managed from within the heart of the Latrobe City region.
