Agnes Brereton Reserve Undergoing Upgrade
Works are currently underway at the Agnes Brereton Reserve in Traralgon which will see the netball pavilion facility upgraded for the coming season.
Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman, said that the renovations would further enhance the region’s existing sporting facilities.
"The netball pavilion was a building constructed in the 1950s and it no longer met the needs of our community. It is important for the community and for visitors that we provide quality sporting facilities which are modern, clean and safe. These amenities contribute to community pride and help promote a positive image of our regional city.
"This is a $400,000 project, with $50,000 provided from the State Government’s Community Facilities funding. There will be a new covered viewing pavilion which runs the same length as the existing building with new concrete pavement underneath. There will also be new public toilets to the south (Breed St), including an accessible toilet and two unisex toilets. We will be building a new first aid room, new male change room and new concrete pedestrian access from Breed St to the pavilion.
"In terms of upgrading the existing building, the project will see new floor coverings throughout as well as installing a commercial grade kitchen. The meeting room will be extended and there will be a new umpire change room and store room. The current change room facilities will be completely renovated, a new iron roof will be installed and the external brick walls will be painted," Cr Harriman said.
"This facility is long overdue an upgrade. Users, including the Traralgon Netball Association which has more than 850 members, will be delighted to see the changes as they take place," Cr Harriman concluded.
