Land Tax Up In East Gippsland

Land tax in East Gippsland is expected to rise by 72 percent in the 2005/2006 calendar years, according to a report presented to East Gippsland Shire Councillors.

The report shows that Land Tax for commercial and industrial properties in coastal areas will increase from $137,192.82 in 2005 to $236,798 in 2006.

The Council prepared the report as the result of a resolution passed at the 14 December 2004 Council Meeting to research and report on the impact of the State Government Land Tax on businesses in coastal towns of Metung, Paynesville, Lakes Entrance, Lake Tyers and Mallacoota.
