Council Provides More Care For Aged Residents and People with Disabilities

More elderly residents and people with disabilities will be able to access Council’s Home and Community Care (HACC) services

By Carol McCormack - 1st June 2001 - Back to News

More elderly residents and people with disabilities will be able to access Council’s Home and Community Care (HACC) services due to a recent agreement between Bass Coast Shire Council and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

All HACC clients will still have HACC services provided by Council’s Aged and Disability Service Unit staff. However, the agreement means that some existing clients’ HACC hours will be funded by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. This will free up Council and Government funded HACC hours for new clients.

"Council will be able to provide more hours of HACC services for our elderly residents and people with disabilities," said Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr. Miranda Sage.

Cr. Sage said that 1,300 Bass Coast Shire residents currently benefit from the range of HACC services provided by Council. These services include home care, home maintenance, respite care, personal care and planned activity groups.

Residents interested in finding out more about Council’s Home and Community Care services can contact Council on (03) 5671 2211 or (03) 5951 3311.
