Local companies urged to attend 'Meet the Builder' event
Local companies involved in manufacturing, concreting, construction and other industrial project applications are being offered a unique opportunity to meet representatives from Continuum.
Local companies involved in manufacturing, concreting, construction and other industrial project applications are being offered a unique opportunity to meet representatives from Continuum, the organisation currently shortlisted as a bidder for the $6 billion Melbourne Metro Tunnel and Stations project.Latrobe City Council is hosting the session at its corporate headquarters on Wednesday 15 February from 3pm to 5pm.
Latrobe City Council mayor, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan, said gaining an understanding of the project could build supply chain capability for local businesses.
"Continuum is one of three consortia shortlisted for the project, which includes more than 9km of twin tunnels, five underground stations, station fit-out, mechanical and electrical systems, specific maintenance services for the infrastructure delivered by the package and commercial opportunities at the new stations.
Council and other key agencies will also discuss if the Continuum consortium are successful how the Latrobe Valley can leverage work for the region.
"Attending the session will allow local companies to meet the construction team and learn about their requirements. Here in the Latrobe Valley, and in wider Gippsland, we have a strong base of manufacturing and industrial organisations that would be a perfect fit to supply the project. If Continuum are successful in securing their bid, this briefing will place industry in the Latrobe Valley on the front foot to supply this important project. Securing a contract for this project could bring significant economic benefits not just to the business, but to the wider region," Cr O’Callaghan concluded.
