Latrobe Local News:
Jobs Fair to provide opportunity for local jobseekers
Next week’s Gippsland Jobs Fair will offer an opportunity for local jobseekers to talk about current and future vacancies with local and national businesses.
By Portal Admin - 15th March 2017 - Back to NewsLatrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan, said that the Gippsland Jobs Fair would be an anticipated event on the local calendar for jobseekers.
"The Gippsland Jobs Fair provides an opportunity for all jobseekers to get access, advice and information from local and national businesses in the one location in a 'face to face' setting.
"It’s an event where jobseekers will be able to engage with those who make the decisions when hiring as well as finding out answers to the kinds of questions people have when seeking employment. They can also learn more about current employment climate in a relaxed setting," Cr O’Callaghan said.
"There will be exhibitors offering information about employment opportunities, both current and future, in addition to a range of support services. Attendees can also take part in a series of information sessions for those wanting to find out about resume writing, interview skills, the local employment climate and health services.
Cr O’Callaghan said the event was a must for those looking for employment.
"For first time jobseekers, or even those seeking a career change, who may be keen to access information from local and national businesses in this area, will be able to obtain this crucial information. The impending closure of Hazelwood means our community will look to local businesses for future employment opportunities. The Fair provides a chance to have conversations with organisations about local options," Cr O’Callaghan concluded.
The Gippsland Jobs Fair will be held at Kernot Hall, Morwell on Friday 24 March from 2pm to 8pm. Entry is free
