Feedback needed on the next stage of the Inverloch Surf Parade Shared Path project.
Bass Coast Shire Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on the next stage of the Inverloch Surf Parade Shared Path project, from Veronica Street to the Inverloch Surf Life Saving Club.
There are two options, after a second design was created in response to a submission to the 2018/19 Budget.
Option 1 features an extension of the shared path to the Inverloch Surf Life Saving Club and 20 parallel parking bays, which is a loss of 118 bays currently available as informal parking.
On top of the extension of the path, Option 2 includes the provision of 138 parking bays. Option 2 will require vegetation removal which is subject to approval from the Department of Environment Land Water and Planning. Under this option, formalised car parking will be provided parallel with Surf Parade along the foreshore side with the shared path. Kerb and channel will act as a barrier between the parking spaces and the adjacent pathway and will minimise the required encroachment into the foreshore.
There will be a number of ways to provide feedback on the two options.
An online survey is available to fill out at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/surfparade, or feedback can be provided in person at pop-up sessions. Council will also be holding a Facebook question and answer session with Councillors and Council Officers on Tuesday, April 16 from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
A pop-up session will be held at the Inverloch parkrun on Saturday, 6 April from 7.30am to 9.00am. Another pop-up session will be held at the Inverloch Recreation Reserve on Saturday, 20 April (Inverloch-Kongwak Football Club home game) from 12pm to 2pm.
Written submissions or queries can be emailed to surfparade@basscoast.vic.gov.au.
It is anticipated that $1.5 million funding for the construction of Stage 2 of the Path will be allocated in the 2019/20 Budget.
For more information on the project visit www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/surfparade or phone Council’s Infrastructure Delivery Team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211.
