Bass Coast Shire Council has a new Community and Economic Development Director.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 10th October 2008 - Back to News

Ms Patti Wenn started in the role on 6 October. Bass Coast Chief Executive Officer, Allan Bawden, said Ms Wenn’s role was an important part of the management team.

"Patti brings a wealth of experience to Bass Coast, including 14 years experience in senior management roles in Victorian local and state government," said Mr Bawden.

"Throughout her career, Patti has worked across many areas and brings with her expertise in strategic and business planning, policy and economic development, marketing, community services and communications.

"Her experience from her most recent role as Executive Manager with the International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI Oceania) will be a valuable contribution to our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability," Mr Bawden continued.

While at ICLEI, Ms Wenn managed the Cities for Climate Protection program, which assists 260 councils and their communities across Australia and New Zealand to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to predicted climate change impacts. Bass Coast has been an active member of Cities for Climate Protection since 2004.

Ms Wenn has relocated from Melbourne with her family. Originally from the Redcliffe Peninsula, north of Brisbane, Ms Wenn now calls Victoria home.

"I can see many parallels between Redcliffe and Bass Coast," said Ms Wenn.

"Both communities are popular tourist destinations and are located close to a capital city.

"Bass Coast faces similar challenges in terms of the potential for economic growth and the challenges and opportunities that are inherent in pursuing sustainable development," commented Ms Wenn.

"I am certainly looking forward to working with Council, staff and the community to help Bass Coast achieve its vision of a secure and prosperous future."
