Mr Hall is encouraging Gippsland residents to nominate a person or organisation for an award, with nominations accepted in nine different categories.

The categories are:

  • Award for Meritorious Service in the Community
  • Premier’s Award for Community Harmony
  • Business Corporate Award
  • Service Delivery to Multicultural Victoria Awards
  • Police and Community Multicultural Advisory Committee (PACMAC) Awards
  • Victorian Multicultural Commission Ambassador Award
  • Victorian Multicultural Commission Print Media Award
  • Victorian Multicultural Education Award
  • Local Government Award.

"In these turbulent times it is important that we respect each other’s culture while understanding and promoting our wonderful Australian way of life,’’ Mr Hall said.

"The Gippsland region has a large and diverse multicultural population, and I know many individuals and organisations work hard to provide services for and increase understanding of different cultural groups and promote harmony in our community.’’

Self nominations for individuals and organisations are accepted only in the Print Media, Business Corporate, Local Government and Education awards.

Information kits and nomination forms are available at Mr Hall’s office, 190 Franklin Street, Traralgon or phone 5174 7066.
