Rural Access Project Officer Jodi Moresi said that following a recent review of the Committee’s activities and the development of new plans for 2007 and 2008, the Shire was looking for new members.

Ms Moresi said that that the role of the Committee was to give advice to the Shire about plans, policies and activities that affect people with a disability.

"These people and their carers are best placed to give advice about access and inclusion issues," she said.

"The Shire recoginses that their experiences and knowledge is highly valuable and is keen to have strong representation from this group."

Committee Chairman Arthur Beale said it was it was an opportunity for community members to assist the development of infrastructure, services and activities specifically for those with a disability.

"Membership is voluntary and requires a commitment to attend regular meetings," he said.

"People who are interested are invited to ring Ms Moresi at the Shire and arrange for an interview."
