Temporary Car Park For Old Traralgon Manny’S Market Site

A temporary car park is being established at the old Manny's Market site on the corner of Franklin and Grey Streets, Traralgon; and is expected to be available to shoppers and businesses within the next three weeks.

The temporary car park will relieve short term parking shortages aggravated by the temporary closure of the Seymour Street car park during its redevelopment into a multi-storey parking and retail facility.

Latrobe City deputy mayor, Cr David Wilson, said the temporary car park will provide unrestricted all day parking within the Traralgon CBD encouraging ‘business as usual’ in the town.

"The new multi-story car park and retail facility being developed in Seymour Street will be a boon for Traralgon as we are all aware, but during the construction phase there was always some projected ‘pain’ to be endured for the long-term gain.

"Being able to provide some additional parking relief to minimise the effects of limited parking availability is great news for local businesses and shoppers and overcomes the potential shortfall," Cr Wilson said.

"Latrobe City is grateful to Minster Constructions for allowing access to this land during redevelopment of the Seymour Street; and council is now working to develop the former Manny’s Market site as a temporary parking facility with works such as levelling, line marking and lighting," Cr Wilson added.
