Up to $5,000 available for projects supporting events, programs, equipment, environment, inclusion, accessibility, and community wellbeing priorities
Empowering local communities
Baw Baw Shire Council recently awarded over $154,000 in Community Grants to 41 local community groups and non-profit organisations to fund delivery of new projects, programs and events. Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Danny Goss encourages more local community groups to consider applying for a grant. "At Baw Baw Shire Council, we are proud to be working with community groups to deliver projects, programs and events that help make our community a happy, healthy, sustainable and thriving one."
Councillor Suzanne Allen said examples of how this funding had been used previously included the purchasing of defibrillators, covering costs of running community events, running community training and the replacement of sporting equipment.
"I encourage community groups to enquire and see if they are eligible for this extra assistance. Have a chat with other local community groups who have been successful in the past, to find out how these grants have helped them. These grants may help your community group too,' she said.
Guidance through grants
Applications by Appointment provide community groups the opportunity to meet with council to discuss their project idea to ensure it aligns with the grant guidelines. The process also provides potential applicants with guidance on what to include in their application and clarity about the supporting documents which must be submitted reducing the likelihood of applications being incomplete or ineligible for assessment.
