At its meeting on Monday night Latrobe City Council resolved to allow flood affected residents access to transfer stations at no charge to clear their properties of any items that were damaged by the recent floods.

Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Ed Vermeulen, said that Council recognised the impact the floods had on residents in Traralgon and Morwell and offering this service was the least we could do.

"We need to make the cleaning up process as streamlined as we can to help get these residents back on their feet.

"Council officers have visited residents who have been flood affected and assessed their level of impact. We will be writing to advise residents who have met the emergency recovery criteria of the arrangements in the coming days," Cr Vermeulen said.

In order to access this free service, residents must present their letter from Council at the transfer station.

If you need to dispose of flood impacted materials and your property has not yet been assessed, please contact Latrobe City Council on 1300 367 700.
