On The Road Again
Unfortunately in recent weeks, Council’s Community Safety team have received quite a number of calls about stock on the road. Obviously with the drought and the lack of feed, stock do try to feed through the fences. But inadequate fencing in some areas has resulted in over 100 head of cattle escaping onto the roads, which poses quite a risk for drivers.
Property owners holding stock are urged to check their fences and make any necessary repairs. Penalties of $200 per head apply for stock loose on the road. Any impounded stock will also attract a fee to be released. Council’s Local Laws team are urging all property owners to consider community safety and ensure all stock are fully secured.
