Federal Labor has committed to provide $1 million to the development of the Paynesville Community Centre and a Paynesville Medical Clinic, Jane Rowe, Federal Labor Candidate for Gippsland announced today.

FEDERAL LABOR TO SUPPORT PAYNESVILLE COMMUNITY AND HEALTH HUB

 

‘Real solutions for ailing local health facilities’ State of the art Medical Centre as part of Paynesville Community Hub: Rowe

 

Federal Labor has committed to provide $1 million to the development of the Paynesville Community Centre and a Paynesville Medical Clinic, Jane Rowe, Federal Labor Candidate for Gippsland announced today.

 

The vital community asset will include a community centre featuring a 1,300 square metre library space, reception office and meeting rooms.  It will also enable the establishment of a medical clinic, allied health and aged and disability facilities to be included onsite.

 

"The increase in the Medical and Health Professional workforce and capacity will immediately benefit the 5,000 strong residential population of Paynesville, Eagle Point, Newlands Arm, Raymond Island in the southwest of the Shire and seasonal tourists", Ms Rowe said.

 

"The whole project including the rebuilding and extension of the Paynesville Community Centre will cost $3,400,000 and will be delivered in partnership with the East Gippsland Shire and the State Labor Government".

 

Ms Rowe explained that the Community centre would provide space for Paynesville Medical Services, Library, Visitors Information Centre, Sea, Scouts Apex, and Lions Club in addition to East Gippsland Shire Council services; Paynesville Neighbourhood House and child care services.

 

"The Bairnsdale Regional Health Services will also utilise the medical centre providing allied health, community, counselling Home and Community Care aged and disability services, planned activity group", Ms Rowe explained.

 

A new clinic will enable up to 6 Medical Practitioners, including visiting specialists, clinical nurse and private health professionals and Pathology to service the community.

 

"This facility represents a ‘whole of government, community services and private medical practice partnership" Ms Rowe said.

.

Ms Rowe congratulated the East Gippsland Division of General Practice for supporting the ‘medical/community hub’ through their visionary approach.

 

The Shadow Minister for Trade & Regional Development, Mr Crean said Ms Rowe had championed the project in Canberra and continues to advocate for the needs of the people of Gippsland. 

 

This announcement is part of Federal Labor’s commitment to support sustainable solutions, which stack up to meet the development needs of our regions.
