Mr Nixon was dedicated to The Nationals and the Party's cause throughout his life. His loyalty and love for the Party were unshakable and will never be forgotten. Mr Nixon held the seat of Gippsland for 22 years, serving with dedication and determination. He also worked as Minister for the Interior, Shipping and Transport, Postmaster-General and Primary Industries.

Mr Nixon was known for the respect and care he gave people. He was proud yet humble, purposeful yet polite and above all, a statesmanlike politician and someone we all looked up to. The Nationals are thinking of Mr Nixon's family during this extremely difficult time. Vale Peter Nixon.
