Transformer: Views From The Valley

A new exhibition, ‘Transformer: Views from the Valley’ currently on show at the Latrobe Regional Gallery examines the striking rural and industrial contrasts within the Latrobe Valley and surrounding areas.

By Latrobe City Council - 5th May 2009 - Back to News

Latrobe City’s arts director, Julie Adams, said that the exhibition was a wonderful example of how both the natural and built environment inspires creativity and imagination.

"It reflects the dramatic contrasts and diversity to be found within our region, which, as a long term resident of Latrobe City, I think is one of the things that makes this place so exciting and unique," Ms Adams said.

"This exhibition includes work by artists who have visited the region and those who are local residents and includes paintings, photographs, prints and ceramics.

"These works explore many aspects of our environment, the monumental exteriors of industry, the quiet of the banks of the Latrobe River and the rolling hills of surrounding farmlands. We hope that visitors to the exhibition will be prompted to think about their own special ‘views from the Valley’," Ms Adams said.

The exhibition continues until 4 June 2009.

Latrobe Regional Gallery is located at 138 Commercial Road, Morwell, and is open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm, and on weekends 11am–4pm. The gallery is closed public holidays. Entry is free.
