Australia Vs New Zealand Test Match  image from picsearch.com Latrobe Valley Volleyball is excited to announce they are hosting the third Test of the 5 Test Jenny Kirk Trans Tasman Trophy series of matches between the Australian and New Zealand Junior Women’s volleyball teams. By Portal Admin - 29th September 2009 - Back to News With the support of Latrobe City, Cool Aqua Springs and TRU energy the match will be the first high profile event to be held in the new extended stadium at Latrobe Leisure Moe Newborough on Tuesday 29th of September starting at 6.00pm.
The match will see some of Australia’s and New Zealand’s best young volleyballers take the court in the cross Tasman clash.
A highlight for local volleyballers will be the appearance of Gippsland’s own, Eliza Smith, from Lakes Entrance playing for Australia. Eliza is a graduate of the Gippsland Sports Academy Manny’s Markets Volleyball Program
The Aussies and Kiwis have a great cross Tasman rivalry, competing each year for the Jenny Kirk Trans Tasman Trophy which is currently held by New Zealand. Both teams are training and playing international matches in preparation for the Asian Junior Championships to be held in 2010.
The teams will undergo training sessions earlier in the day and conduct a clinic for the Gippsland Sports Academy volleyball squad prior to preparing for the Test match which begins with the official warm up at 6.00pm. The match begins with the first serve at 6.30. Come and cheer on the Aussies as they fight to reclaim the Trophy.
