New managers appointed for Visitor Information CentreWellington Shire Council has appointed Finoa and Cameron Barr as the new contact managers for the Central Gippsland Victorian Visitor Information Centre located in Sale. By Wellington Shire Council - 27th May 2005 - Back to News The couple will be taking over from the present manager Allan Cooper from the 1 July when he completes his five year contract term.
Fiona and Cameron, who live in Maffra, are looking forward to working at the Centre and are keen to assist in the future development of the tourism industry within Wellington Shire.
Fiona has 20 years tourism and travel industry experience – which has included jobs with Qantas, Jetset travel and Ansett - and will be working closely with local tourism operators in developing new packages and products showcasing the many visitor attractions that the Wellington region has to offer.
Said Wellington’s Director of Community and Economic Development, Steven Dickson: "Allan Cooper has done a lot of good work over the five years he has operated the Centre, particularly with the development of its website and accommodation booking services. We look forward to Fiona and Cameron building on these solid foundations.
"One change customers will notice from 1 July will be the renaming of the facility to the Wellington Visitor Information Centre – Sale. This reflects the growing identity of Wellington as a visitor destination."
Additional volunteer visitor information officers are now being sought to work at the Centre and any local people interested should contact Fiona Barr on 51411212, or reply to advertising due to appear shortly in the Gippsland Times.
