"Get Involved in Healthy Activity" is the message being given to East Gippslanders with the introduction of a Health and Leisure Activity Guide.
The colour brochure, a joint initiative of the Foothold on Safety Program, East Gippsland Primary Care Partnership and Lakes Entrance Community Health, identifies various sporting and healthy activities available to community members throughout the region.
Foothold on Safety Program Coordinator, Angela Crunden, is keen to see a copy of the Guide in every home in East Gippsland.
"There is [BB1] a range of different activities in the community that many people are not aware. The Guide lists these activities on a town by town basis and provides contact numbers for people wanting more information," said Ms Crunden.
"The guides also provides handy references to Health and Community Centres across East Gippsland."
Ms Crunden said the Guide aims to increase the level of activity within communities and in turn help improve the general health and well being of East Gippslanders.
"Living active lives results in us being stronger, fitter and better able to counter the increasing restrictions of older age", she said.
"Activities also provide fun, happiness and fitness as well as the opportunity to meet new people.
"The Guide shows that even if you live in a smaller town with limited choice in activities, there may be a town nearby with something that is suitable for you."
The Health and Leisure Activity Guide will be available at a range of community points such as Health Care providers, General Stores, Neighbourhood Houses as well as upcoming community events.
