Community Asked To Help Implement Bass Coast Road Safety Plan

Calls for community representatives to help implement the Bass Coast Community Road Safety Plan

By Carol McCormack - 6th August 2002 - Back to News

Bass Coast Shire Council is calling for community representatives to help implement the Bass Coast Community Road Safety Plan. Council adopted the Plan in July.

The Plan was put together after extensive community consultation. There were also many organisations that contributed to the Plan including VicRoads, RACV, Victoria Police, Municipal Association of Victorian and the Transport Accident Commission.

"The Plan outlines the road safety issues in the Shire and how they can be addressed," said Cr John Gains, Mayor of Bass Coast Shire Council.

Cr Gains explained that members of the Committee would help implement the actions outlined in the plan such as community awareness and education programs.

"Council needs people from the community to help us implement the actions in the Plan," said Cr Gains. "If you’re interested in community safety please nominate to be part of this important Committee."

Interested people can nominate by writing to Council at PO Box 118, Wonthaggi 3995.

Copies of the Plan are available at all Council offices on Council’s website at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au

More information about the Plan or nominating to be part of the Committee are available by contacting Belinda Allen, Administration Officer, on 5671 2436 or 5951 3311.
