2013 Regional Achievement And Community Awards Kick Off In MorwellThe official launch of the 2013 Regional Achievement and Community Awards took place in Morwell yesterday. By Russell Northe - 7th June 2013 - Back to News Member for Morwell and Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business Russell Northe and Member for Narracan Gary Blackwood attended the Regional Community Achievement awards launch on behalf of Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional and Rural Development Peter Ryan.
Mr Northe said that the event encourages, acknowledges and rewards the valuable contribution individuals, businesses, groups and organisations are making in regional and rural Victoria.
"The Regional Achievement and Community Awards began in 2002 and have grown to become one of the most prestigious Awards programs in Regional Victoria," Mr Northe said.
"The Victorian Coalition Government was proud to sponsor two awards this year, the Regional Living Expo Business Achievement Award and the Regional Victoria Living Expo Leadership and Innovation Award.
"The Business Achievement Award acknowledges successful businesses that through their pursuit of business excellence are making a significant contribution to the economic development of regional and rural Victoria.
"The Leadership Innovation Award will shine the spotlight on individuals, businesses and organisations that are the leaders in their field. They will showcase leadership and innovative thinking and be at the forefront of community contribution in their field.
Member for Narracan Gary Blackwood said we encourage businesses that to strive to realise their corporate vision and mission in areas such as product development, manufacturing and construction, primary industries, e-commerce, wholesaling, exporting, retailing and other professional services.
"There can never be enough encouragement and support for those working in regional and rural areas, Awards such as the Regional Achievement and Community Awards provide a catalyst and opportunity for us to say thank you to those who work tirelessly in developing our region to make it a better place to live," Mr Blackwood said.
"We have many individuals, groups, programs and businesses worthy of nomination in Gippsland, so we encourage the community to make a nomination."
The finalists and winners of the Regional Achievement and Community Awards will be announced at a special Gala Awards Presentation Dinner on Saturday, 9th November, 2013 in Bendigo.
