Turning Ideas Into ActionInverloch residents will have the chance to review the Inverloch Community Plan on Thursday, 21 October, where the focus will be turning ideas into actions. By Bass Coast - 6th October 2010 - Back to News Council’s Community Development Team Leader, Kerri Ritchie says that it has been almost two years since the Inverloch township started the community planning process.
"The Inverloch Community Plan outlines what residents want their town to look like in the future and how they will work together to achieve this," said Ms Ritchie.
"At the first community visioning session in December 2009 the Inverloch community agreed on a vision for the town, which is Inverloch: a village by the mouth of the bay.
"This vision underlies the priorities and projects set out in the rest of the community plan.
"The December session also set out a number of priority areas for projects which members of the Inverloch community have been working towards.
"Now almost two years into the Community Planning process and the community has achieved a lot and this is a time to celebrate those achievements.
"The Community Plan leadership group think it’s timely for the community to have another look at the Community Plan and ensure that it is still on track with the community priorities," said Ms Ritchie.
A public session will be held at the Inverloch Community Hub at 7.00pm on 21 October to review the Inverloch Community Plan.
This session will review the existing Inverloch Community Plan by looking at the priority projects and scoping out what these projects (or potential new projects) hope to achieve in the next 12 months.
"This is the ideal opportunity for the rest of the community to join the community planning group in celebrating thier achievements, and learning over the past two years and to get involved in new or existing projects," said Ms Ritchie.
"Existing Inverloch Community Planning members are rightfully proud of their achievements, from planting trees and mulching with Rotary at the Rotary Park to sewing over 100 recycled material bags and working with the local supermarket to introduce the use of biodegradable bags.
"Community Planning members have also been heavily involved in ensuring the Inverloch Design Framework Review is reflective of the vision for the town and portrays what the community want for the future of their town.
"It has been interesting to see the variety of projects that the community has been involved in. Some people are more interested in working with Council on strategic plans, whilst others are happier finding something to keep their hands active.
"Whatever your level of experience, everyone is welcome to be part of Community Planning in Inverloch," said Ms Ritchie.
