Public meeting to consider road link in Churchill

A consultants report and design concept options for a new road link in Churchill will be presented at a public meeting to be held at 7.30pm on Thursday 2 December 2004 at the Churchill Community Hall.

The consultants report includes four design options for consideration, including installation of traffic signals at Canterbury Way East and West and Monash Way; and a roundabout treatment at the intersection of Monash Way and Canterbury Way West, with a new link road connecting Amaroo Drive via Condowie Court.

Latrobe City Mayor, Councillor Darrell White, who will chair the meeting, said that a Glendonald Working Party had been set up some time ago to examine all aspects of a proposed new entrance and intersection project linking Glendonald Estate with Monash Way and the greater Churchill area.

"This was one of the major outcomes of the Glendonald Neighbourhood Renewal Project and the Latrobe Valley Housing Renewal Strategy Final Report. As a consequence, the Department of Human Services provided funding to engage a traffic engineering consultant to examine options for the proposed new intersection link.

"Churchill residents and other interested citizens are encouraged to come along to the meeting and discuss the proposals with Council staff and the traffic engineering consultant. Following the public consultation process, a detailed report will be presented to a Latrobe City Council meeting," Cr White said.

Residents requiring any further information or those who would like to view the draft report are invited to contact Brian Fitzgerald at Latrobe City, telephone 1300 367 700.
