Falls Road in Fish Creek streetscape works to improve safety, aesthetics, and functionality, set for completion by year 2025/26
South Gippsland Shire Council will begin streetscape works on Falls Road in Fish Creek, enhancing pedestrian safety, aesthetics, parking, and stormwater drainage. The project is set to finish by 2025/26.
South Gippsland Shire Council is preparing to commence streetscape works along Falls Road in Fish Creek. The project has been developed in consultation with the Fish Creek community over recent years, and will help to improve pedestrian and driver movement, increase visual appeal and improve functionality.

Falls Road upgrades
The works that will take place along the Falls Road retail precinct will include:
- Formalised intersections and enhanced pedestrian connectivity and safety, including a formal raised zebra crossing in the town CBD and median crossing for the Great Southern Rail Trail crossing
- Improved street lighting
- Installing existing and new street furniture
- Below ground storm water drainage system
- Concrete paving along shop fronts
- New garden beds
- Parallel and angled parking as well as an accessible path from Falls Road through to the Foster

The ANZAC cenotaph and garden bed will be preserved in their current state and made accessible on significant days such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day. There are also plans to carefully realign the "1884 Fish Creek 1984" garden bed approximately one metre to the right to fit in with the streetscape works.

Kerryn Ellis, CEO South Gippsland Shire Council said, "The streetscape project provides an opportunity to improve aesthetics and overall usability of Falls Road. I look forward to seeing the work progress and what the increased street appeal will achieve for Fish Creek."
