Gippsland Water Meets With Plumbing Industry

Plumbers from across Gippsland had the opportunity to learn about key changes in the water industry at a recent information session.

Gippsland Water hosted the plumbers night as a way to facilitate an information exchange.

"We wanted to clarify the infrastructure for which Gippsland Water is responsible, and what is the responsibility of the property owner," said Gippsland Water senior planning engineer Paul Young.

"We were also seeking feedback from the industry on what we are doing well and where we can improve. Gippsland Water works closely with plumbers, so creating an environment where information can be gathered and distributed quickly is important."

Plumbers travelled from as far away as Sale and Warragul to listen to presentations on subjects including greywater reuse, fire service requirements,  commercial trade waste, metering, property connections, and how to apply for sewer plans.

Gippsland Water staff were joined by representatives from the Plumbing Industry Commission, Casey Services, and National Metering Service.

"The night was also an opportunity for our staff to meet the plumbers they talk to on the phone, and vice versa. Gippsland Water is committed to meeting the needs of plumbers and keeping them informed of any regulatory changes. This is the second plumbers night we’ve held, and the feedback on the night was to hold another event in six months," Mr Young said.
