Final Free Week In Flood Waste Offer

East Gippsland Shire has extended its offer to accept waste created by the recent floods free of charge for a final week.

By East Gippsland Shire Council - 31st July 2007 - Back to News

Shire waste coordinator Megan Dennett said that hard and green waste would now be accepted until close of business next Sunday, 5 August.

"There has been a significant volume of waste presented in the last few days and we have also been asked if the offer could continue," she said.

"Our information suggests that we are now approaching the end of the need for flood waste disposal, so this will be the last week when it can be accepted without charge."

Ms Dennett said the preference would be to have the materials taken to either the Lakes Entrance Landfill in Thorpes Lane or the Bairnsdale facility in Johnston Road.
