Money raised will go to support missionaries in bringing aid and support to the villages of South Thailand affected by the Tsunami. The money from this night will go to the 15-20 villages that were devastated in some way by the Tsunami and have been missed by other groups, due to their isolation. The missionaries Tony & Annette Higgs and their team are organizing relief work with these villages. That is, they take food (rice, powered milk, gas cookers, cooking oil, drinking water, etc) to them until they can get boats built for them and nets, pots, etc replaced for them. This may take a year to do. Ultimately, they want to get them back on their feet in homes again and working again as soon as possible. Crisis and Trauma counseling is very much needed and they will be helping with that also. Their team have had training in this area over the last few months. They are organizing other teams, agencies & groups to work with us to achieve this.
Thanks to eveyone who is offering their help, there will be a door cost of $2 for a single person and $5 per family and a bucket being passed around for donations, after a powerpoint presentation straight from South Thailand.
