Regional Achievement And Community AwardsDo you know somebody who is inspiring change in our community? Do you work for an organisation that deserves recognition for innovation or leadership? By Latrobe City - 22nd June 2012 - Back to News Do you belong to a community group that is leading the way in sustainability and environmental issues?
If you do, now is your chance to nominate individuals, businesses or groups for the 2012 Regional Achievement and Community Awards.
Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Ed Vermeulen, said that the awards were state-wide and recognised achievements in various categories including community group of the year, leadership and innovation, business achievement and regional achiever.
"Here in our municipality there are many people and organisations who strive to inspire change, who lead by example, who develop and improve their business through sustainable or environmental measures. These people and businesses deserve our recognition. Let’s celebrate their innovation, their dedication and their tenacity by nominating them.
"There are some great prizes on offer including financial rewards and television exposure but perhaps the most rewarding prize would be the recognition in their own community.
"I’d like us all to think about what person or what organisation deserves a nomination. Not everyone can win, but everyone can take part and I would encourage you to collect an entry form from any Council service centre or download one from the Awards Australia website," Cr Vermeulen concluded.
