In collaboration with TAFE Gippsland, Food & Fibre Gippsland will welcome an international chef to Gippsland next Monday, who will be devoting most of his day to sharing knowledge via a masterclass with seven 3rd year apprentice chefs at TAFE Gippsland's Bairnsdale campus. Chef Chris Holen from multi-national group Chef Outta Water will be shoulder to shoulder with the apprentices in the kitchen as they create a grazing lunch feast and learn some old school techniques, showcasing Gippsland produce every step of the way.

Gippsland manufacturers are encouraged to apply for a slice of the $50 million in funding from the federal government for the purchase of new technology, with the recent announcement of the Manufacturing Modernisation Fund. The $50 million Manufacturing Modernisation Fund supports manufacturers to modernise, adopt new technologies, become more productive and create more jobs by co-funding capital investments and associated reskilling. Deadline to apply is 31 October, 2019.

Meet the Member - Gippsland Pearls
Gippsland Pearls has achieved a lot in a short time, and they haven't even hit their first year anniversary yet! Their gourmet mushrooms continue to grow in popularity and demand, whilst their escargot caviar is a constant source of intrigue and interest. Behind the scenes, owners Cheryl and Sara are driven by the goal of giving back to the Gippsland economy.

For the first time ever, Agribusiness Australia will be holding a regional event in Victoria. Energising Regional Australia is a one day conference that will be held in Bendigo on October 11 and it will address a number critical issues facing rural Australia. Gippsland businesses are encouraged to join the conversation, by registering to attend the conference - places are limited to 148 attendees.

Gippsland Connect Project Manager David Grimmond has busy meeting with businesses interested in being part of the SME Export Support program that aims to help improve their capabilities, increase exports and support business/industry growth. There are still places available for more SME's to be involved, and we encourage people at various stages of their export planning to get in touch. Applications are open for the Science and Innovation Awards for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, a competitive annual grants program supporting 18–35 year old innovators to think big and contribute to the future success of Australian agriculture. In the 2020 round, there are 11 industry category grants available each worth up to $22,000.
