The GERF Flood Appeal funds will help provide assistance to families affected by the devastating floods that ravaged the Gippsland region in June.

GERF recently announced a special Gippsland Flood Appeal, urging Gippsland and Victorian communities and businesses to support those families, farmers and businesses whose assets and business were greatly impacted.

"The Commonwealth Bank has shown great generosity in supporting the Gippsland Flood Appeal with their $5,000 donation. This very welcome donation will boost our Appeal funds and thus enable more families and businesses in their recovery from the devastating impact of the floods," GERF President John Mitchell said.

"A great deal more funding is required to assist families, farmers and b usinesses impacted by the floods. We also need to remember that for many of those impacted by these floods had also endured the hardship of successive years of drought, and then fires," Mr Mitchell concluded.

Commonwealth Bank Area Manager Gippsland Corporate Hanna Wardell said, "The Commonwealth Bank ispleased to provide such a valuable contribution to support the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund’s flood recovery efforts. We would also like to encourage others who have yet to make a donation to consider making a donation to such an important cause and thus assist fellow Gippslanders in their time of need."

Donations can be made via the post or at any National Australia Bank in Gippsland. Donation cheques can be posted to PO BOX 508, Traralgon, Victoria, 3844.

One hundred per cent of all donations received by the fund are distributed to disaster victims. The fund is a registered charitable organisation making all donations tax deductible.
