Wellington Shire Council has appointed local resident Julie Nethercote as Project Officer for the StreetLife program in Yarram.

By Wellington Shire Council - 16th January 2007 - Back to News

Street Life is a state wide initiative aimed at encouraging small business to develop creative ways of increasing patronage in retail precincts.

The program has been jointly funded by state government and the Wellington Shire Council.

The Yarram project is being implemented in consultation with the Yarram and District Tourism and Traders Association.

Mayor of Wellington Shire Council, Cr Beth Ripper, said StreetLife projects in the Stratford, Heyfield, Maffra, Rosedale, Cowwarr, Briagalong districts had been very successful.

"Yarram now has its own local StreetLife resource. This is a great opportunity for the local business community to promote itself and also encourage better cooperation between businesses"

"They will be part of a state wide program which has already delivered positive results elsewhere," said Cr Ripper.

The first stage of the project will look at the needs, concerns and opportunities for the business community.

Ms Nethercote will work on a part-time basis from the Wellington Shire Council Yarram Service Centre and can be contacted on 5182 5100 or 0408 517242.
