Exhibition Opening SuccessOver sixty people attended the opening of the Bass Coast Shire Art Acquisition Exhibition on Sunday 3 May. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 11th May 2009 - Back to News The artwork will be on show until 25 May, giving members of the public the opportunity to see the public art collection in one place.
Bass Coast Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Allan Bawden, said the commitment of community groups who run local exhibitions made gathering this collection possible.
"Without the commitment and effort of the Bass Coast Artists’ Society, Corinella and District Community Centre, San Remo and Newhaven Lions Club and the Artists’ Society of Phillip Island we would not have so many wonderful works," said Mr Bawden.
"I’d like to also thank Janice Orchards, Director of Coalfields Art Gallery, for teaming with Council to make this exhibition possible."
Arts Director for Latrobe City, Julie Adams, helped open the exhibition with a talk about art collections. Local musicians Frank and Rosalie Colletta and Martin Keogh added atmosphere by performing live during the opening.
