Sustaining our War Legacy in Eastern VictoriaHonouring Victorian veterans and marks 75 years since the end of WWII. By Portal Admin - 26th December 2019 - Back to News The Andrews Labor Government is doing more to honour Victorian veterans and to mark 75 years since the end of World War Two.
Three different grant streams to support veterans have just been opened for applications, including the new, one-off 75th Anniversary of the End of World War Two program.
Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Harriet Shing encourages local community organisations to apply, with grants of up to $30,000 available per organisation.
The $150,000 fund will support events that recognise the milestone, with communities with links to the conflicts especially encouraged to apply.
Successful projects will honour and recognise WWII veterans, tell lesser known WWII stories, identify significant sites and engage diverse communities.
Applications are also now open for the annual Victoria Remembers Minor Grant and the Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour Grant programs.
Close to $200,000 is up for grabs under the minor grant round for projects that honour or commemorate the service and sacrifice of our veterans.
Individual grants of up to $30,000 are available for both existing funding streams, with almost $185,000 to go to projects that restore or improve existing memorials, honour rolls and avenues of honour.
