· Seminar to inform Gippsland’s food and beverage industry and ‘Hear how FIAL can help this industry grow’

· Regional Development Australia Gippsland advocated for the Food Innovations Australia Limited (FIAL) event to be held in Gippsland

Food Innovations Australia Limited (FIAL), an industry-led, government funded network will present its "Meet FIAL" event in Gippsland on Wednesday 20 August in Traralgon.

The free session at the Century Inn, 5 Airfield Road, from 3pm will deliver insights from industry leaders and market opportunities, including its strategy for growth and programs in progress that will directly benefit Gippsland food and beverage organisations. Attendees will also hear from regional industry champions who will discuss the importance of innovation to their businesses

The event will also provide insights into export mission opportunities for key Asian markets for export-ready companies; understandings of common challenges the industry faces as identified by people in the industry, and details about programs in innovation and collaboration being delivered through FIAL, including its innovation development program Food Futures.

The event is proudly supported by East Gippsland Food Cluster and Regional Development Australia (RDA) Gippsland. RDA Gippsland Chair, Richard Elkington said RDA Gippsland encouraged and advocated for the free "Meet FIAL" events in Gippsland.

"The events help local businesses gain access to information, networks, new tools and services to enable organisations to invest, innovate and grow," Mr Elkington said

"The FIAL network helps to build an innovative, efficient and world-leading food industry. FIAL offers resources and guidance for Gippsland’s food and beverage industry to ensure businesses are effectively equipped to deliver the priorities of the Gippsland Food Plan (GFP).

‘’The GFP which was launched in March this year, was developed by a dedicated steering committee established by RDA Gippsland. It is the first of its kind to be developed in response to the Australian National Food Plan. Its vision is to expand the food industry’s worth and contribution to the regional economy.

"The GFP is a call to action from a region which is well positioned to take advantage of the ever increasing international demand for food. The Gippsland Food Plan also dovetails very clearly with the Victorian Government’s important "Food to Asia" initiative."

Mr Elkington said the event would give Gippsland’s food and beverage businesses exposure to FIAL which could act as a catalyst to bring together producers, processors, technologists, government and other providers to explore and access local and export markets to accelerate growth of the industry.
