Inverloch Community Groups On ShowCommunity groups will be putting their best foot forward at the first ever Inverloch Community Group Expo (ICE) on Sunday, 12 November from 10am to 2pm. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 6th November 2006 - Back to News Council’s Community Building Facilitator, Tony Cornish says the Expo will provide the best of what the Inverloch community has to offer.
"Displays, demonstrations, activities and much more will be presented by community groups in the Inverloch district.
"From young to old, there is something for everybody at the Expo," he said.
The Expo is being held on the same day as the Inverloch Billy Cart Derby.
Mr Cornish said the benefit for community groups was the opportunity to promote their activities and attract new members.
"It is also a great forum for community groups to meet and learn about each other’s activities."
Mr Cornish also indicated that if the Inverloch Expo proves successful it is planned to provide opportunities for similar events in other communities throughout Bass Coast.
"The Community Expo is one of a number of exciting projects being trialled by communities in Bass Coast, as part of Council’s 2006 Community Building Project.
"Other activities that have taken place this year include workshops to help community groups learn to prepare funding submissions and a session with students from Wonthaggi Secondary College to find out their opinions on Bass Coast.
"The overall Project has focused on strengthening existing community partnerships, particularly with all levels of government," said Mr Cornish.
"The three major trial projects being conducted should have long term benefits for community organisations.
