Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Michael Rossiter, said that the project was designed to improve the visual amenity of the town.

"This project saw the removal of damaged kerbs, reconstructing them in a straight alignment; the refurbishment and repainting of bins, seating, bollards, bike racks and tree guards; planting of garden beds and edging; installation of a new irrigation system and footpath cleaning," Cr Rossiter said.

"All works still in progress will be completed by the end of the year. We would like to thank the local traders and shoppers for their patience and understanding whilst the works were, and are, being carried out.

"Residents, workers and visitors travel into or through our CBDs every day. We want to make sure that these areas are clean and visually appealing," Cr Rossiter concluded.
