Council Plan On DisplayA plan outlining the Council vision for the next four years is on display for community comment and input. Copies of the proposed Council Plan 2013-2017 are now available at all Council Customer Service Centres and on the website.
By Bass Coast - 23rd April 2013 - Back to News Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Clare Le Serve, said the plan is an important document, as it will guide decision making and set the direction for Council for the next four years.
"Over the past five months, the Councillors gathered input from the community in a range of ways," said Cr Le Serve.
"We held community forums at the start of the year, we ran a survey and also considered all the feedback from the written submissions we received.
"We have worked very hard to capture those ideas and aims that were repeatedly brought up through these various avenues," explained Cr Le Serve.
The information in the plan is organised under five strategic objectives:
• Natural Environment
• Effective Governance
• Economic Development
• Healthy Communities
• Sustainable Development and Growth
"The community has really worked alongside us to help put this plan together and we are very pleased with the result," said Cr Le Serve.
"Everyone now has the opportunity to review the work that has been done. We will be holding information sessions so people can talk direct with Councillors about the plan.
"This is a high level document, which sets out our aims and the strategies we can use to help us achieve them," continued Cr Le Serve.
"I hope that as many of you as possible can make it along to one of the sessions, so we can present the plan and talk to you about how we incorporated your suggestions.
"For instance, at some of the forums, people talked about the need to childcare in their area. This would be addressed by one of the strategies under the Healthy Communities heading. I also encourage people to make a written submission."
Three community forums have been scheduled for:
• Tuesday, 30 April, Grantville Community Hall from 12noon to 2.00pm
• Monday, 6 May, Inverloch Community Hub from 7.00pm to 9.00pm
• Saturday, 11 may, Cowes Cultural Centre from 1.00pm to 3.00pm
Anyone making a written submission may ask to be heard in person in support of their submission. Submissions must be received by the Chief Executive Officer by 5.00pm on Monday, 20 May 2013. All submissions received will be considered at 4.30pm on Wednesday, 22 May 2013.
At the Meeting on 17 April, Council voted to table the proposed plan and to review the plan each year.
The final Plan will be presented to the Council Meeting on 19 June 2013.
