From Paddock to ParkYou can help improve facilities at Pioneer Bay park by voting for the Paddock to Park project to win funds on a facebook page. By Bass Coast - 9th March 2012 - Back to News Paddock to Park represents a Bass Coast Shire Council community planning project and is listed on the Bank of Melbourne’s "The Local Project" facebook page. The Bank has $100,000 in community funding up for grabs on the site, where people can vote for their favourite projects listed in any of the five categories.
Zena Benbow, President of the Pioneer Bay Progress Association, has listed the Paddock to Park project under recreation projects, and says she is keen for people to go on-line to vote for the project before the closing date of 4th April.
Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Dowman said the Pioneer Bay Progress Association is using a new way to seek funds for their project, and Council wishes them all the best with their bid on the website.
"We encourage people from across the Shire to go onto the Bank of Melbourne’s facebook page, click on "The Local Project" and vote for Pioneer Bay’s Paddock to Park project.
"Council is also supporting the project with an application for funds for the pathway component of the Masterplan made to Sport and Recreation Victoria last year.
"We expect to hear about the outcome of this application later this year," said Cr Dowman.
Ms Benbow explained the project on the website as follows, "The park is Pioneer Bay’s only public asset. Yet until now many residents are simply unable to access the facility. Over several years the Committee has worked hard to develop an upgrade plan for the park.
The Master Plan was completed in 2010 and adopted by Council in 2011. This document identifies the Circuit pathway as a key feature for the future development of the Reserve. It links all of the multipurpose facilities the residents wanted in the park. These include a small amphitheatre for events. Six fitness stations with 2 additional pieces forming an extension to the playground. A skate area. A bird watching area."
A Bendigo Bank Grant was successfully awarded in 2011 for the purchase of the fitness stations. The Paddock to Park project is applying for a grant to cover the cost of a contractor to install the equipment.
