Comedy Festival promises to have you rolling in the aislesThe eighth Melbourne Comedy Festival Road Show is about to truck into Traralgon with a massive load of laughs and gags. By Latrobe City Council - 5th May 2006 - Back to News From Ararat to Isa, Wycheproof to Wang, Kalgoorlie to Singapore, the Comedy Festival Roadshow is moving out of Melbourne to tour Australia and beyond.
Latrobe Performing Arts Centre program manager, Kathleen Roberts, said that this year’s show coming to Traralgon features a roll call of the most fabulously funny home-grown and overseas comedians. "A selection of artists from the 2006 Melbourne Comedy Festival are about to deliver a slick, sophisticated, unpredictable, original, cheeky, engaging and outrageous night-out to comedy fans in Latrobe City and afar," Ms Roberts said.
"The Comedy Festival Road Show this year is one not to be missed. A crowd favourite, this show has audiences coming back year after year because they know the show always delivers on its promise of a night of belly-aching laughter," Ms Roberts said.
"The show this time around features a top-shelf line-up which is the cream of the Melbourne festival’s comedic talents. We’ll have Eddie Perfect, Justin Hamilton, Phil Kay and Christina Adams all providing a night of fantastic energy, laughter and enjoyment.
"Eddy Perfect has won many comedic awards and was recently voted number one in the field of Arts and Entertainment by the Bulletin Magazine for its Smart 100 awards, "He has perfect voice, wicked humour, a cunning way with language and rhyme. Perfect is shrewd, irreverent and a consummate performer," said Ms Roberts.
"Justin Hamilton has a fluent and unique delivery coupled with delicate material that makes his performance special. He has sold out tours as part of the International Melbourne Comedy Festival Road Show. Amongst a busy schedule, he has supported Wil Anderson on his inaugural solo tour around Australia, has found time to support Rove on the South Australian leg of his tour and also is to make more appearances on the ABC’s ‘The Glasshouse’.
"Christina Adams has been performing hilarious, witty and well observed comedy since 1998, as a founding member of comedy group ‘The Improbables’. She has since appeared in a variety of shows as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Melbourne Fringe, and in 2005 received the Best Newcomer Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
